Blessings to you and happy Sunday (or whatever today). I hope all is well and that you had an awesome end of August, Summer 2015. What did you do this summer? Well, this summer our family did not go to the beach (not once), we did not go to an amusement park, no road trips or family vacations. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing those things and would have loved to do those things this summer, but that was just not what this summer was about.
For those of you, who have been following my blog within the last six months would have known that our family just moved into a new home, neighborhood & State about four months ago. We do not have our own family vehicle at the moment or very much means of getting around. So we enjoyed our summer in a different way.
We had friends over for a weekend, we grilled, we played with water balloons, sprinklers, we roasted marshmallows and made s’mores, we relaxed in our hammock, we had fun with sparklers and many more.
We planted our first garden and are learning from the experience. We have reaped potatoes and cucumbers and are currently watching our tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, sunflowers grow.
I tried my hand at making New England Clam Chowder, which wasn’t a complicated recipe at all. I did pretty good, and my husband and I enjoyed our Clam Chowder.
My husband, bro and even the kids worked together and built a beautiful pond for our backyard. What a wonderful backyard blessing.
My husband and kids repainted our front patio and steps.
We celebrated our beautiful first born and only daughter’s 9th birthday. No big party, but a quiet celebration with family and a couple of friends.
Check out this crazy musical spinning candle that she choose for her cake, she also choose that very small cake from the supermarket bakery for some reason.
We also went to a Frozen yogurt place for her birthday. The flavors and toppings were awesome. Especially the fruit poppers. These little fruit balls burst the fruit juice flavor in your month. I had blueberry and strawberry poppers. Later we bought a half cup of fruit poppers by themselves. My kids also loooooooooved the poppers.
This is my kid’s first day of public school. Look how precious they look.
This is their second day of school.
On my birthday, my older kids were at school. So we took our littles (2 yr & 10 month old) and went to a Mall we have never been before. At the Mall we went to Petco and looked at fish, turtles and other cool animals (later buying some fish to carry home for our pond and aquarium. We did some shopping at Walmart, then had lunch at Ruby Tuesday. I had a salad, plus Lobster Tail and Steak in the same dish, I also had mashed potato as my side. My boys behaved so well and quiet in that restaurant, it was a pleasant lunch.
We ordered desert- chocolate cake, and shared with the kids later that evening. We put some candles in it and they sang me happy birthday.
After lunch at Ruby Tuesday, before we left the mall, I got to go buy myself some stuff from one of my favorite stores Bath & Body Works. I just love the scents of most to their products and how their products make me feel.
This is a nice gift a very special friend gave me for my birthday.
All and all I had a very blessed August, how about you?

What precious blessings you enjoyed this summer. The simple pleasures bring the most joy.
And that chocolate cake!! I’m ALL about cake!! I love how your daughter picked a small cake out too. So sweet.
I enjoyed looking at the pictures and rejoice with you in how God blessed you this past summer. :-)
Latisha, your family is so beautiful! You had a busy summer with the move and all that comes with it, but you guys have done lots. I love how you celebrate each other and the time you guys spend together. Its the simple things that matter. And your garden…I am so jealous! I wish I had a green thumb. I wish I had the skills and patience to grow a garden, even a small one. Not only are you growing veggies, but sunflowers! I love sunflowers!! and you created your own pond…WOW!!! I think I want to come for a visit. ;)

Sounds like you made the best memories this summer (and without a vehicle!)! Thank you for sharing on the Art of Home-Making Mondays :)
Hi Jes,
God really blessed our family this summer and I am very thankful. Hoping for a vehicle next summer though so we can have a different kind of summer adventure. Thanks so much for dropping by. Blessings.
