Hi Friends,
Welcome to the first post in my Season of Love (Countdown to Valentine’s Day Blog Series). I wish for you a very special Valentine’s Day to reflect on all the love God has surrounded you with. The love of family, the love of friends, the love of God, the love of life and the list goes on.
I want to share with you an old ice breaker game, I came up with a few years back for a Valentine’s Day themed youth ministry event. It is an ice breaker/discussion game that could be used for any Valentine’s/Love themed night for teens and adults. It takes about 45 mins-1 hour, depending on how you use your time.
The name of the game is called “The Love Puzzle.” The supplies you need are very simple, a scissor, white printing paper (to print instructions), card stock (10 sheets), a small box/container, printer/black ink and red ink (optional), players, and time. I have bible verses about love and quotes on love in a heart shape that needs to be printed and cut. Then the individual hearts need to be cut in puzzle pieces. You can either print the black & white hearts or the hearts with a slight addition of red (very little red ink is needed).
The object of the game is to put the hearts back together, discuss the verse and quote. You could probably get together in a small group discussion or discuss a few heart verses/quotes with the whole group. It is up to you.
You could even skip the game and just use the heart print-outs for discussion purposes. There are 10 hearts to be printed. You can print and use only the amount you need based on your group’s size (pick your favorite verses). Tweak the game if needed, to cater to your group.
Hope you enjoy and will subscribe to AskLatisha to get updates on what’s happening on this blog. Really it’s a cool blog, I have lots of great ideas I’m just bursting to share.
