Hello Beautiful People

How are you today? I received an e-mail from Kelly at mum-bo-jumbo.com informing me that she nominated me for “The Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award.” I am so honored to be thought of by anyone as one of their top 12 blogs that they enjoy visiting. I truly appreciate the encouragement and the opportunity for you guys to get to know me a little bit more and for me to have an excuse to ask 10 questions to fellow sister bloggers that I enjoy very much.

So about the award. I would have loved to learn more about it, like who founded this idea, and when did it first start. It seems it was around for a while, at least since the beginning of 2015. I’ve been seeing it around and wondered about it.

Nevertheless, I’ve read a few post from nominees and none of which I have read has mentioned the background story behind this award. It seems the rules given to me from Kelly, are just slightly different from earlier nominee’s post. Some post says you are to nominate 7 other bloggers, but maybe over time it increased to 10-12 bloggers, those where the rules I was provided and I like those ones better.

So here are the rules:

  • Provide a link and thank the blogger who nominated you for this award.
  • Answer the questions about yourself.
  • Nominate 10-12 blogs that you find a joy to read.
  • Provide links to these nominated blogs and let the recipients know that they have been nominated.
  • Ask them 10 questions of your own
  • Include the award logo within your blog post.

Kellypic1Kelly was nominated by one of her blog pals Jennifer from Nana’s Wisdom, who I learned is a very good artist among other things.

I first met Kelly when she commented on one of my link-ups “Sunday Show ‘n’ Tell,” when she asked “Do you have a button that I can link back to your Sunday Show n Tell Link Party?” This was my very first link-up and I felt very encouraged by that question. It gave me a mental boost I needed to believe that I could successfully host a link-up.

I learned from her bio, that Kelly is a 30 something year old Australian woman with a passion for writing, reading, eating and drinking. She is married, and has a 16 year old step daughter and an almost two year old son.

Kelly considers herself a professional procrastinator. She has a great sense of humor, which she does mention on her About page, but I discovered that for myself in reading some of her post and realizing that she has the confidence and courage to be silly and laugh at herself.

Kelly is definitely what you would call a kind blogger. She has recently lost her blogger’s mojo (mum-bo-vation) and could use some blogger’s love (encouragement and support).  You can learn more about Kelly at Mum-bo-jumbo.com.

Kelly's Questions

Question 1Are you a skirt/dress or pants/shorts type of girl?

Truly, I’m not sure. I wear mostly pants because they are comfortable, you can wear comfortable shoes with them and you can do a lot more in pants than skirts. However, I would love to wear more skirts, because they are more feminine and pretty. I have a lot of skirts in my closet, that I don’t wear as much as I would like to.

I am more drawn to long skirts but because I am short, I often wear skirts too long for my height and end up stepping on them regularly. I also don’t really like wearing girly shoes too much and have difficulty finding comfortable shoes that would look good with my skirts. So I’m still trying to figure out how to make the transition to mostly skirts the way I’d like too.

Question 2- You can’t be bothered cooking dinner. What is your go to “cheat” meal?

Wanna hear a secret? To tell you the truth, my husband does most of the cooking (happily, he loves to cook), so I don’t really have a “cheat” meal. Which by the way, I don’t know what that is. Do you mean like ordering take-out or a quick fix meal? Take-out options would be pizza or Chinese. A quick fix meal would be hot dogs. One of my favorite meals to cook when I cook, would be Tuna Pasta Salad.

Question 3-When was the last time you wrote or received an old fashioned letter by snail mail?

Honestly, I love fun snail mail.  I use to penpal and postcross (postcard exchange) a few years ago, but mommy madness got in the way, and I found great difficulty keeping up with those hobbies. I recently participated in a Snail Mail Box Swap called Hello Sunshine Box Swap. That was so much fun. I miss receiving happiness in my mailbox, so I would be returning to those hobbies very soon.

Question 4- Tell us about a funny thing that has happened to you, or something funny you have seen this week.

Please excuse me, I’m not that great at telling funny stories, I’m like Marlin, the unfunny clown fish from Finding Nemo. Don’t get me wrong every once in a while my wit is quick , but not too often.

Here goes. Recently, we had some guest over at our home and with them was this little girl a little over one year old. They put her to sit in my son’s (9 months old) bouncy seat and put the seat belt on. Next thing we knew, the little girl was up and walking around with the bouncy seat clinging to her from behind. She was determined to get where she was going, even with this thing attached and following along behind her.

Now, it may not be funny, how I’m saying it, but it was very funny to watch. I recorded it. It is truly a video worthy of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Question 5- What are your top 3 pet hates?

I’m not 100% sure I know how to answer this one. I’m not sure I understand what is being asked. So here are two different type of answers to two possible questions, one of which might be what you are asking.

(a)  Three pets I would not like to have are dogs, cats, monkeys, pigs, snakes, oh wait that’s more than three. I would not like the first two for these reasons- sharp nails, sharp teeth, fur, poop, loud. Pets I wouldn’t mind having are fish, birds, turtles.

(b) Three things I hate for my pets to do- poop on the floor, destroy my furniture, make my home smell bad.

My apologies, if none of these answers, answered your intended question.

Question 6-Share a link to your all time favourite post. What makes this particular post your favourite?

To be honest, I’m very proud of most of my writings. Sometimes I feel as though God takes over and put the words in my mind. So I don’t know if I have a favorite, favorite, but here is a link from one I really appreciate that I wrote a while back- Time Changes Perspectives.

Question 7-Are you superstitious? If so, what is your most unusual belief?

I don’t know if I am really that superstitious or maybe just paranoid, but sometimes I could have the thought in my head that if I speak aloud about something good that is happening to me or something that is making me happy, that opens the door for a bad things to follow. That’s silly right?

Question 8-What is the most embarrassing thing your child(ren) has said or done in public?

Maybe my kids said something to embarrass me before, but if so it couldn’t have been that embarrassing because I can’t think of anything.

Question 9-Give us your best tip about how to keep the household budget in order.

To be honest, my husband and I  are still working on that. My advice is never spend beyond your means, don’t get into unnecessary payment plans, and don’t be too prideful to buy second hand or no name brands. Those are good ways to save money and keep your spending under control. However, I have a lot of growing and learning to do when it comes to finance.

Question 10- When was the last time you did a random act of kindness? What was it?

Well, I try to be kind whenever opportunity presents itself. Latest thing that I remember is giving away a month’s worth of meat for our immediate family to family members who needed it more.
