TGI Saturdays Greeting

Hey Friends,

What’s up? Hope all is well and you all are having a fun and relaxed summer. My summer is going well. No complains here. My only wish was that I had the ability to check more things off my summer goals/to do list (bucket list). There is so much things I’d like to get done and I just don’t know how or if I can do it all.

Nevertheless, one thing among many that I managed to do last week was to take a road trip with my husband and kids to our former home State (as of a year ago). Visit with old acquaintances and friends that we haven’t seen in about a year. Starting with our old home church. Being back there, and chatting with everyone again, we felt that they were genuinely glad to see us and that we were truly missed. It was a compliment to our spirits to know that we left such a mark, that we weren’t forgotten.

That has always been the kind of person I wanted to be. I want to bring good with me wherever I go and leave deep imprints in the sand wherever I take my steps. I want to leave a positive legacy.

Anyway, the reason we went back this time was to attend a farewell service for the pastors who led the church, when we first visited and later became members. A husband and wife. Very good people. A joy to be around.

It made me think about the plans God has for me and my family. I don’t know what they are, all I know is it has been a great adventure so far. Many ups and downs, like a roller coaster ride that you never know where it is going to end up.

Right now, we have been out of “church” for a year. We haven’t visited any churches in our new home town since we got here. We’ll probably be doing that soon, now that we finally have a family vehicle.

There was one church that I researched online, that sounded perfect for me (not necessarily my whole family). However, as I read further on about the church and its beliefs, though the words were sweet, it seemed like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A disguise, a ruse, not 100% biblically sound.

I don’t know where we are going to end up. Where our new home church is going to be.

I hope it is a good one, one that feels like family (minus all the drama and politics- at least not overcomed with it). I hope the people are friendly, God-fearing people. I hope it has an active children’s, music, and women’s ministry (our family’s needs). I hope I can meet good friends and mentors there. I hope to become a good friend and mentor to others. I hope it helps our family to grow spiritually. I hope it helps shape us into the strong soldiers (God’s army) that God made us to be.

I have a vision in my mind of our family leading a Church ministry of our own someday, using all God has taught us over the years, all our experiences, good and bad and our special gifts (spiritual gifts and talents), and bringing many people to his kingdom. Only God knows what the future holds.

Let’s talk a bit about your church and/or what you would like from a church.
