Hi friends,
Happy Saturday and blessings to you. It’s TGI Saturdays’ 46th party and it’s a countdown to Christmas party. Hope you enjoy. Today is Saturday, December 5th, 2015, that means it is 20 days until Christmas day.
I have lots of questions for you, and I’d love for you to answer one or two or more, if you can. I really want to know how are your Christmas plans coming along?
1.) Did you put up your Christmas tree already?
2.) Do you like to put it up early or late December?
3.) Do you use a real or artificial tree?
4.) Did you start your Christmas shopping yet?
5.) How many people are on your Christmas gift list?
Okay, I’ll just stick with those five questions for now. To answer them for myself.
1.) Not yet, hoping to get a tree this weekend
2.) I like early, sometimes as early as December 1st, went to a lot once when they were now in the process of setting up their trees for the season
3.) I like to use a real tree, though in the long run it is more costly and inconvenient (needles/clean-up/lifespan) than an artificial tree. I love to smell that pine.
4.) I would if I could, but we’re broke at the moment (hate being broke at Christmas time)
5.) At the moment, just my 4 kids and husband. No friends yet in our new hometown. May consider mailing cards to relatives, old acquaintances and friends.
I love Christmas, I love almost everything about it, just how this season feels in general. I love giving Christmas gifts, watching Christmas movies, listening to Christmas music, Christmas decorating, Christmas lights, Christmas baking, cooking and more.
And yes, I do remember the reason for the season. Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
The true spirit of Christmas represents all Jesus was and is- love, kindness, giving, sharing, friendship, family, forgiveness, miracles and more.
May your Christmas season be blessed with the love and light of Christ in all you do.
Blessings to you.
With love,

Thank you so much for including me in your roundup, Latisha! What a great surprise! This is a fantastic list! Now, to answer your questions:
1. Tree is UP!
2. EARLY! As in Thanksgiving weekend! It is so much work, I want to enjoy it as long as I can. :)
3. Artificial! Love the smell of pine, but not the allergies. But the real reason is that I have too many ornaments — the branches on a live tree won’t support it. ;-)
4. Yep, but so far to go!
5. Hahaha…not telling! :)
So to answer your questions…we have a fake tree and yes it is up, but not fully decorated yet. That goes back to a deal my hubby and I made years ago. He gets the ease of a fake tree every year and I get to buy as much smelly good stuff as I want every year to have that Christmas smell in the air. As for shopping, yes I have already started. Actually started before black friday, but am not done yet. :)
Seasons Greeting to you sweet Latisha. Thanks so much for the feature. I love that this post touched many this week. Do join me on Monday as I will be posting some of my favorite ornaments over the years. With your creative side I think you may enjoy this. Everytime my daughter and I watch a Hallmark movie during the Christmas shows I think of you. I often say to her, “I wonder if Latisha is watching tonight.” Here’s wishing you cheer throughout the busyness of the month.
Thanks for another fun party Latisha! Our tree is up, movies and music are playing! Have a wonderful weekend.
Hey there! No, I haven’t put up a tree yet. Typically, we put up a real tree and we usually wait until mid-December. I’m in the same boat you’re in when it comes to funds right now. I’m only looking to buy for my boys and I have actually purchased their first gift! Cyber Monday helped out with that. Hope all is well and I hope you meet some people in your new town soon. Take care and God Bless!
We use a real tree and try to keep it up until Three Kings Day, January 6. We are moving slow this year with all the new grand babies, so the tree is in the house, but not decorated! I’m saying, enjoy the season, do something to prepare each day. That’s what Advent is about!
We always put the tree up on St Nicholas Eve, yesterday, and the lights get switched on today. Always a real one, unless we are travelling. ‘Fraid no shopping done yet! Very long list! Thank you for hosting, Latisha!
None of the kids or grandkids can get here this year (they live out of state) and we aren’t able to travel to them. Instead, we will be spending time with them on Skype, and spending the Christmas season with local friends. We talked about not putting up decorations this Christmas, but my husband has started to talk about finding a tree in the pasture so that we can have a Christmas tree. Not sure if or when, though.Thank you for hosting this party. I enjoyed it.
I love Michelle’s picture! Got a tree yesterday (Sunday)–a real one this year. Trying to keep it simple, but it always grows beyond what I’d like it to be. However, when I get frustrated with the gift buying, I remember that the real reason for giving gifts is because God gave us a gift—one that can never be replicated. The best gift ever! And because of the joy that comes from that, we give gifts to others, to share that joy. Merry Christmas, Latisha. Oh, and I’ve been where you are-broke. Use some creativity. My favorite Christmas was the year my mother didn’t have money to buy us anything (we were all adults), so she gave us things that were special to here–figurines and such that I’d seen growing up. I still have the one she gave me sitting on my shelf and it is one of my favorites, even though it isn’t something I’d ever buy for myself (BTW, my sister got my favorite one!)
